Agenda
Periods 1&3
1) Budgeting and Financial Planning

  • Using the unexpected scenarios in the PowerPoint, we modified the budget we created yesterday in the "Budget Blast" Activity.
  • Next we looked at a few different types of bank accounts that a consumer can utilize for basic savings such as checking accounts, savings accounts, Certificates of Deposit (CDs), and Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).
  • Discussion moved to debt and credit. The following commercial and Saturday Night Live skit made for a poignant break.

The activity was used to highlight the benefits of creating a budget and what a family can do to edit their budget when their circumstances change.
